Meet Jennifer Hodges
The imagination is the seed for possibilities.
The mind/body/spirit connection is the theme underlying all my paintings. My goal is to touch and elicit viewers' previous experiences and imagination and draw him or her into participating in the artwork. I encourage the viewer to engage with the shapes and movement in the paintings through my choice of colour palettes and imagery.
The technique in the paintings involves layering transparent and opaque glazes, building them slowly over time to produce depth, mystery and subtle variation. I call it oyster painting. Like the grain of sand that is the starting point in the creation of a pearl, the inspiration exists and it emerges into form.
Viewers may expect the unexpected in the walk through my Landscapes for the mind. I recreate mystery and fantasy to inspire the viewer's imagination.
My artwork is part of private and public collections across Canada, United States, Europe and Australia. Thank you for the opportunity to share my passion for life, through my art.
